5 Reasons You Lack Motivation & 5 Proven Ways To Stay Motivated All The Time

You've decided to work out waking up early tomorrow and kept an alarm. Alarm beeps the next morning, you shut its mouth and say yourself " Okay! I'm feeling tired today, Let's start working out from tomorrow" and goes back to sleep.

The next day the same thing happens. Different day but the same old shit. We keep doing this every single morning and feel guilty during the day that we didn't do it and feel bad for lacking the motivation to do it.

If you find yourself in this position, don't worry! We all have been there at some point in life. I've been there a lot of times in my life, but I picked myself up and moved forward. In this article, I'll tell you some reasons why you feel a lack of motivation and how to deal with it.

Before learning how to stay motivated all the time, let's find out the reasons why you're feeling unmotivated. The key to finding a solution is to understand the roots of the problem.

Let's jump right into it.

Why you lack motivation?

Reasons for feeling lack of motivation

I researched and found seven reasons why most people generally lack motivation. Let's see what are those:

1. Lack of Commitment

The most common reason for lack of motivation is having no commitment to your goals. I see a lot of people having big goals but they lack the commitment to it and never really give their 100%.

When you lack the commitment to a goal, you're most likely to neglect it or even worse you don't work on it.

2. Lack of Discipline

When you lack discipline, you never really feel the urge to work for your goals. If you're not disciplined, you'll not be consistent. When you're not consistent with your approach, you don't get results.

The reason behind how discipline affects your motivation is, your brain subconsciously decides a time to work for a goal based on your habits, but when you're not disciplined and lose track of time, you'll again never feel that urge to work.

If you look at my rule for success, you definitely need discipline to succeed.

3. Lack of Planning

Planning keeps you entitled to your goals and tasks. When you lack a proper plan, you'll be in a dilemma about what to do next, in which situation most of the people find it hard to find the zeal to work and give up.

4. Lack of courage to start

We all wanted to do great things and we all have a million-dollar idea in mind. But only a few succeed to act on their ideas. Why?

The hardest part of taking action is the beginning. Your fear of failure is what that's demotivating you.

5. Lack of patience

Okay! I understand the world is moving faster than ever and everything is getting quicker and easier. But remember, great things take time. There is a lot of struggle, late nights, early mornings, and a lot of sacrifices behind what you call an overnight success.

Lack of patience can easily demotivate you and force you to give up.

Now that you've understood the reasons behind feeling lack of motivation, let's find out how you can overcome this and stay motivated all the time.

Stay motivated all the time

1. Be passionate about what you do

What do you think that drives the most successful entrepreneurs and successful people to work? It's PASSION.

When you're passionate about what you do, you make sacrifices to do that work, not excuses. When you have no excuses, you feel motivated to work.

2. Have clear goals

The problem with most people is they want to do so many things and have big goals, but doesn't have clear goals.

Having a clear goal clears your mind and you'll get to know what exactly you have to do right now to achieve that. It triggers you to act instead of procrastinating or giving up.

3. Avoid distractions

You might be thinking of a funny meme you saw this morning or an interesting rumor your friend revealed to you, while you're in work. There will always be distractions on our way, it's just that you have to overcome them and keep moving forward.

I suggest you to do one thing at a time. Don't multitask. You cannot concentrate on anything perfectly if you multitask.

4. Start the Dopamine addiction

You know what? Motivation is nothing but a release of dopamine, which is feel-good hormones that keep you happy and in a good mood to work.

But, when is dopamine released? Dopamine is released when we feel pleasure, rewarded and surprised.

So, now we can use this to motivate ourselves to work. How?
Start rewarding yourself for every task you accomplish and your brain registers work as a source of dopamine and makes you work more.

(I'll soon come up with a detailed article on dopamine and how to trigger that process to help us better every day. Make sure you subscribe to our mailing list to never miss an update from me.)

5. Keep feeding yourself

Why do you eat regularly? Why do you bath regularly?
Yes! Exactly, to keep you healthy and fresh.

Motivation is no different than them. You need to continuously feed your brain to get motivated.

But how can you do that?
Watch some inspiring ted talks, read success stories, follow people who inspire you on social media.

I recommend a daily dose of at least 20 mins of motivation feeding into your brain. You not only feel motivated, but you'll also learn something new daily by this process.

Conclusion:

When you understand the roots of the problem, you can find a clear solution to your problem. Identify or analyze why you're feeling a lack of motivation and use the above-mentioned ways to stay motivated every day.
